Richard has acted in a number of high profile cases and was heavily involved in the litigation that arose from the collapse of Lehman Brothers.
The administrators of Lehman Brothers chose Richard and his team to be involved in resolving what should happen to the money left in Lehman Brothers’ client pool. Richard has been involved in a number of cross border litigation cases and acted successfully for the claimants in Harlequin Property (SVG) Ltd & Anr v Wilkins Kennedy in which Richard’s client was awarded over £10,000,000 in damages and costs.
The case was listed in The Lawyer’s top 20 cases of 2016. The case was also the largest reported case to have been undertaken on a Damages Based Agreement (“DBA”). The DBA was subsequently challenged and settled on the third day of the trial to determine its validity. Richard’s style is to be strong, focused and persistent to achieve his clients’ aims.

President, WCC – Global Contract Management Association
I believe that commercial innovation is fundamental to human creativity and the development of sustainable trading relationships. My experience has shown me that academia and business do not invest sufficiently in creating the necessary skills or structure for commercial competence to flourish. In 1999 I established a non-profit Association – IACCM – with the mission to inspire change. And it is working!
Trade lies at the foundation of human prosperity and progress. Through enhanced commercial policies and practices, we achieve greater integrity and success in our trading relationships. These are supported by new forms of contract, designed to achieve economic benefit. IACCM lies at the heart of a growing movement, providing research, ideas and practical insights to those with the courage to think and act differently.
My career included successful growth in corporate banking, automotive, aerospace and technology industries, plus leadership of start-ups. Today, I travel the world, meeting and speaking with major corporations, government officials, politicians, NGOs, academics and entrepreneurs, spreading belief that we can do things better. My words are backed by the strength of research and practical examples of the benefit that comes from enabling commercial innovation.
Specialties: Public speaking. Creative, entrepreneur, research and analysis of complex organization / business opportunities. Funtional and organizational design, global business development, negotiation and management of complex contracts, international business, marketing, collaboration and networking – creating opportunities for others

Panel: BIG DATA & LITIGATION DECISION MAKING IN THE PANDEMIC
Big Data & litigation decision making in the pandemic and post pandemic era. High value litigation decision making has historically been based purely on expertise, experience and “gut feeling”. With the advent of litigation analytics in The USA and more recently in the UK, this is beginning to change as data is becoming part of the way in which these high-risk business decisions are made.
– The arrival of the Covid-19 pandemic has altered the picture further. With a surge of high value and complex disputes expected data will be critical to not just anticipating outcome but also in maintaining a grasp and understanding of market dynamics for firms, banks, insurers and other corporates as well as for litigation funders and insurers. How data is used and analysed will be critical to this future picture and the panel will explore the opportunities and challenges.
